So.
Many.
Books.
Here are just a few...

The Ace of Cups.
Not just a great Tarot band-name, but an amazing band from the late-'60s Haight-Ashbury scene in San Francisco. They were never signed by a label, but now in their 70s are playing and recording together again. I love their description of the role they played in their community ("whatever was needed") - and to see how creative energy reaches joyfully beyond oppressive structures. This short film tells some of their story. "This is the place I grow the best". . .
"This is a green world,
with animals comparatively few
and small, and all dependent on the
leaves. By leaves we live. Some people have
strange ideas that they live by money. They think
energy is generated by the circulation of coins.
Whereas the world is mainly a vast leaf colony,
growing on and forming a leafy soil, not a
mere mineral mass: and we live not
by the jingling of our coins, but by
the fullness of our harvests."
- Patrick Geddes

"All together,
we are changing from
a society whose organizing
principle is the pyramid or hierarchy
to one whose image is a circle.
Humans are linked, not ranked.
Humans and the environment
are linked, not ranked."
- Gloria Steinem
Blackbird - the beatles

"The deep
imagination is also our
primary resource for recognising the
emerging future, for 'seeing' the visionary
possibilities of what we can create right
now - individually and collectively... It
is our essential resource for all
genuine human creativity."
- Bill Plotkin
"The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others. That action is the testimony of love as the practice of freedom." - bell hooks

Carson McCullers,
especially her novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.
And her idea of having a chosen family, a tribe of writers, artists and misfits, which she referred to as being the we of me.
